No

Opening an .nfo saved as utf-8 loads the file fine, however if you edit and save it, all unicode characters silently change to ????.

When looking at the encoding menu, no encoding is selected anywhere, selecting utf-8 prompts me if I want to apply all unsaved changes, then proceeds to butcher the file to a sea of question marks.

Changing the extension to .txt, the same file detects as utf-8 just fine and I can edit it as usual. Currently using v6.3.3 (Unicode)

Over half a year and nothing? Still present in 6.5.3
It shouldn't be that hard to fix.

  • I just posted a similar bug report before spotting yours.

    https://sourceforge.net/p/notepad-plus/bugs/5012/

Some work around in there that do seem to help (but it looks like this is a Notepad++ bug)

Yeah, it's a npp bug. It seems nfo is treated as ansi on load, even if it's UTF-8. It still gets parsed correctly for display, so it's probably somehow related to the "encoding" menu.
