In the Languages autocomplete file (%installdir%\plugins\APIs\%Language%.xml), the additionalWordChar="" field is ignored, making it impossible to add non A-Z and _ words to the list.
paramSeparator="" seems to be ignored as well.
Non-function autocomplete words do not offer hints.
The problem is actually a combination of issues:
The "Environment/additionalWordChar" attribute for the auto-completion XML files
(in %installdir%\plugins\APIs\%Language%.xml) does not work.
When the "Environment/additionalWordChar" attribute is fixed, the auto-completion XML files in Notepad++/plugins/APIs must be revised to use it.
There does not appear to be anything wrong with the "Environment/paramSeparator" attribute, once these other problems are addressed.
For auto-completion in HTML we need additionalWordChar and spaces in startFunc and paramSeparator !!!
Please support this Ticket with a message so they solve this asap in a next release of NotePad++
The original Bug Ticket #4027 only concerns the "additionalWordChar" attribute for the "AutoComplete/Environment" element. A patch for Bug Ticket #4027 has been posted.
If anyone thinks there is a problem with other attributes (e.g. "paramSeparator", "startFunc") for the "AutoComplete/Environment" element, then separate Bug Tickets should be posted accordingly. At the very least, THIS patch might then have a chance to be included in a release in the near future.
I've run into this with spaces, it would be good to see this fix released
