Hello, Nootka developers!
Your program is of very big value for all guitar addicted both beginners and intermediate. And I want to suggest additional mode for training of recognizing notes and simultaneous playing of them. The proposed mode looks following: Nootka shows the note and user must PLAY this note on his guitar. The sound could be captured by microphone or, in case if the electric guitar connected to PC with Nootka - from digital audio card interface. Also it could be some additional features like training mode, game mode - when user should play dropping notes, which (s)he sees on the screen, if (s)he playing wrong, (s)he got the penalty. Also Nootka can take statistics, how much notes are played right and wrong. Modes of training can include something like just playing note without measuring its duration, or more strict mode, in which duratrion also affect statistics. For distinguishing notes I have found the library here - http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/32172/FFT-Guitar-Tuner with some code examples. Unfortunately I am not the programmer, and I can not implement such feature by myself.
Thanks.
Best regards,
Tim.

    Hi!
    Thanks for post.
It seems like nootka has already note pitch detection from mike or line-in implemented. Just configure it in sound settings if it doesn't work from a very beginning.
... or I miss something you meant?
Also there are built-in levels: 'play score', 'sing score' where user has to play note by note. When you switch on 'expert mode' it works without any confirmation necessary.
So statistics of it are generated similar that you proposed.

It is not I'm not interested in new features but those ones are almost the same as you described or please correct me....
