    I'm trying to get nget going on a gentoo box.

    I've created three folders
    /public/.nget5
    /public/nget/cache    for the temp stuff
    /public/nget/incoming  for the completed files

    I have environment variables set
    NGETHOME=/public/.nget5/
    HOME=/public/.nget5/         I think this is superceded by NGETHOME

    Finally my .ngetrc contains the following

    //global settings - (defaults, merely listed for your convenience)
    cachedir=/public/nget/cache

    //hostname aliases
    {halias
    {genealogy
      addr=shawnews.gv.shawcable.net
      id=1
    }
    }

    //multi-server priorities
    {hpriority
    }

    //newsgroup aliases
    {galias
    abcdgr=alt.binaries.cd.genealogy.reposts
    abcdgf=alt.binaries.cd.genealogy.fills
    abcdgn=alt.binaries.cd.genealogy
    abcdg=abcdgr,abcdgf,abcdgn
    }

    When I run nget -g abcdg -r ""

    All the headres come done but when it trys to deal with an actual file I get

    main():nget.cc:1108:caught exception decode.cc:128:PathExFatal: opendir: No such file or directory(2)

    Any help would be appriciated

    Dean

    • Try "get -g abcdg -r .". A regexp consisting of a single dot - "." - matches any character, and therefore matches anything.
