Hi sir/madam,
I am Subramanya from India. I have gone through
your chat. I have
installed NFC chat in Windows NT and using Tomcat as
webserver. Database is
MySQL. I have put nfc.war file in the webapps directory,
It is working fine
for an anonymous user.
But i want to connect the database and check whether
the user is valid user
or not and then allow him to chat. if he/she is not a valid
user, he/she
should not enter into chat.
I have gone through FAQ's in your site.
You have given some notes on JDBC connection.
I have followed all the three steps that you have
mentioned in the site, but
still it is not connecting to database.
I am giving all the configuration details i did for the JDBC
connection.
please go through them and advice me whether i should
configure any more
files.

Configuraition Details that i did:

1) I have downloaded MySQL JDBC driver mysql-
connector-java-2.0.14-bin.jar.
Copied this file to the directory
d:\nfcchat\chat\nfc-1.0.8\lib\mysql-connector-java-2.0.14-
bin.jar

2) I have copied jdbcAuth.conf from contrib directory to
NFC's conf
directory and made necessary changes.

3) Now i removed the comment in nfc.conf for
com.lyrisoft.chat.server.remote.auth.jdbc.JdbcAuthentica
tor and commented
the old one auth.class .

4) Finally i had set the classpath in runServer.bat since
im using windows
NT and restarted the server.

I even changed the paths of SET
JAVA_HOME=d:\jdk1.3 and SET
NFC_HOME=d:\nfcchat\chat\nfc-1.0.8 in runServer.bat.

But i did not found any changes ...
so please help me out.

    Subramanya,

Please send questions about the server serup to the Open
    Discussion forum in the future.

You are editing the wrong files. When NFC runs inside
Tomcat, you should edit the files in [tomcat
home]/webapps/nfc/WEB-INF. Copy the jdbcAuth file to [tomcat
    home]/webapps/nfc/WEB-INF/conf, edit [tomcat
    home]/webapps/nfc/WEB-INF/conf/nfc.conf and copy the mySQL
    driver to [tomcat home]/webapps/nfc/WEB-INF/lib.

That shoud get you up and running. I take it that you have
read [nfc home]/docs/database authentication.html? If not,
    do so now.

    Maarten
