#18 No command prompt after etherboot ?

After the client etherboots I just get a message which says:
"nsp usage <load | start....> <package>"
on pressing ALT F1 F2 etc i get a quick flash of a line saying:
"press enter to activate this console"
however on pressing enter many times i can just get the prompt
for 1 or 2 seconds and can do an "ls" which shows some
files/folders.

I am running netstation 0.8.2 the latest as of nov 2002 i think. and
have edited the modules/netstation/packages .conf s and built
the netstation.nbi many times with different permutations and
combinations. The client and server (mandrake 8.2) are both on
VMWare virtual machines and the contrib vmware package has
been used.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaase help. I am unable to sleep till it
works.
