Initial Comment:
Printing the contents of a OCTET_STRING that contains 
a multi-line string will return a HEX converted string.
Shouldn't the test include !isspace(c) as well:

mib.c:607

            if (!isprint(*cp) && !isspace(*cp)) {
                hex = 1;
            }

This certainly produces a nicer output....

Just for the records: the bug fix is included in version
5.1.1 and later.
