I use the agent (5.2.1.2 and 5.3.1) on many host including FreeBSD, Solaris (9 & 10), Linux (RHES 3 & 4) and Wndows (XP).
The patch for Linux works well, but is it planned to support other platforms?
The problem is that the agent answer with the physical interface even if calling on a virtual one.
For example:

bge0:flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
options=1b<RXCSUM,TXCSUM,VLAN\_MTU,VLAN\_HWTAGGING>

    inet X.X.23.101 netmask 0xfffffff0 broadcast 10.233.23.111
    inet X.X.23.102 netmask 0xffffffff broadcast 10.233.23.102 \# Virtual IP

    ether 00:11:25:41:7c:2a
    media: Ethernet 100baseTX <full-duplex>
    status: active

Polling trace dump:

X.X.180.15.5513 > X.X.23.102.161: SNMP data
X.X.23.101.161 > X.X.180.15.5513: SNMP data

X.X.180.15.6055 > X.X.23.102.161: SNMP data
X.X.23.101.161 > X.X.180.15.6055: SNMP data

The agent is configured to listen on "ALL" interfaces. (If the agent is configured to listen especialy to the virtual one it works, but I can't configure the agent to listen to the virtual interface.)
