This happens on Linux 2.6.15 with net-snmp 5.3.0.1.
IPv6 is enabled on the affected host.
If net-snmp is configured with "--enable-ipv6", the
following error messages are logged:
error on subcontainer 'ia_addr' insert (-1)
error on subcontainer '' insert (-1)
Without "--enable-ipv6", there are no such messages. I
didn't check the IPv6 MIBS yet, but i would expect them
to fail.

This message looks like being from
./snmplib/container.c:CONTAINER_INSERT().
Is this happening on older Linux 2.6.x systems (say: Sarge)
also?

I retested this under 2.4.27-2 (official sarge kernel).
net-snmp 5.3.0.1 configured with --enable-ipv6.
Without ipv6 module loaded:
could not open /proc/net/if_inet6
With ipv6 module loaded:
error on subcontainer 'ia_addr' insert (-1)
error on subcontainer '' insert (-1)

5.3.1.rc1 still has this problem.

With 5.3.1.rc2, the problem is still there.

Please check the functionality. Subcontainers are often
additional convenience indexes that aren't actually used for
basic MIB functionality.

As far as i can tell, functionality is OK. However, even 5.4.rc3 still logs this SPAM to syslog.
If the messages can be ignored, could they be commented out in the source?
