This patch adds the recognition of the -- argument for
the nedit and nc command line. Every remaining argument
after -- is treated as a filename. This allows
filenames starting with a dash to be opened in a simple
and standard manner by nedit an nc.

Since this additional -- option doesn't break any
existing command line processing (exept not producing
an error any more) it should be save to include this
patch into the nedit developement line.

The patch includes the documentation of the new
behavior in help.c

What about a -file option instead?

For me just a matter of taste (OK, -file would be slightly
different: it should just act for the next argument,
allowing other -options after that again).
As far as I know them the most GNu utilities have the
suggested -- option, so I thought that's perhaps the "more
expected" way for the common user (who just tries something
before RTFM ;-). Besides this it seems to be part of the
POSIX 1003.2 specs, so it's perhaps not a bad idea to use
    it.

    Sounds reasonable ...
    Ok, I'll commit.

We better keep this open for one reason:
afterwards we do not only have to ensure that (not only for
this patch) the docs gets updated to stay in sync with
help.c, but also the man pages (for now ...) should get this
    new feature.

too annoying to have this around. Just don't forget to get
    code and help in sync(!)
