I am ssh'ing into a Linux machine with a standard Fedora 4 install...so I have been told. I have nedit 5.5 installed in a home bin directory and can open it find; however, whenever I try to perform a hot-key copy, paste, etc, the application crashed. Here is the message I am seeing:
      UTF8 locale not supported.
X Error of failed request:  BadAtom (invalid Atom parameter)
Major opcode of failed request:  18 (X_ChangeProperty)
Atom id in failed request:  0xe3
Serial number of failed request:  5312
Current serial number in output stream:  5312

    [1]    Exit 1                        nedit

I am loggin on from a Mac machine with OSX 10.4.5 running X11
    X11 1.0 - XFree86 4.4.0.

This problem only started when the servers were upgraded to this version of Linux.

Any help try ro resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

      Hi,

the mailing list is usually a much better place to ask this kind of question. I suggest you move this thread there. (http://www.nedit.org/mail.php)

Now about your problem: The version you should try is this: http://www.nedit.org/ftp/v5_5/executables/nedit-5.5-Linux-x86.tar.gz

If that does not work, we would need more information. Please provide the output of 'nedit -V', the exact command you enter and the exact error message.
