    Does running with the default visual help?

    nedit -xrm 'nedit*visualID: Default'

    I was able to reproduce this by creating a second screen and
    giving it a PseudoColor visual (quite simple with Exceed),
    and running nedit with -sync.

    This line in FindBestVisual appears to be the culprit:

    *colormap = cachedColormap = XCreateColormap(display,
    RootWindow(display, screen), cachedVisual, AllocNone);

    Maybe Mark has an idea on what's going on.

    I've applied a fix in CVS.
