I installed NEdit 5.3RC1 from your website *AND*
KDE3.0 from RH 7.3 and since than nedit is acting
strange.

You can't select the menuefont from
"Peferences->Text Font..." because if you select
your menufont and click on ok nothing will happen.
The dialog disappears and you got an normal
(ugly) standard proportional system font. Selecting
of the font for the text is okay.

And nedit prints:

Cannot convert string "FONTLIST" to type
FontStruct

for every startup. Does this help?

Is there any solution for the problem?

Standard Mandrake 9.0 install - starting NEdit from a terminal
    window gives the following;

: XmFontListCreate() is an obsolete function!
    :
: Cannot convert string "FONTLIST" to type FontStruct

Hope that helps pin down the problem....

This is a KDE bug. As a workaround go to the Colors
section of the KDE control center and disable the
"Apply KDE colors to non-KDE applications" checkbox.
You'll then need to restart X.

I think we should put some sort of workaround that scans for
poisoned values and tromps them, for 5.4.

I think we've added a workaround for "FONTLIST" here, right?

Also, note you cannot select the menu font from the dialog
    at this time.

Right. It's in the release notes now. Closing.
