I have successfully compiled 0.4 on a Latitude D800 running SuSE 9, from
the 2.6.1 kernel sources. The card is the Intel 2100 Centrino.
The driver loads and iwconfig shows wlan0 (along with eth0, l0 and
sit0, all of which show "no wireless extensions"). I've set the
encryption key, and can see that set from iwconfig. However, setting
ESSID has no effect - iwconfig shows ESSID: ""
As far as I can tell from monitoring this list, the steps required to
activate the card are:
1. Load the drivers (modprobe ndiswrapper, loadndisdriver etc.. Note,
when I do this, loadndisdriver seems to try to load the wrapper again
"Cannot add duplicate driver", but loading it without modprobe gives an
error "Cannot find minor for kernel module. Module loaded?")
2. Set the ESSID
3. Set the key (which can be done at the same time as 2.)
4. ifup wlan0
Am I missing something basic?
