I recently purchased a Dell laptop with the Dell 1500 Wireless card. I tried to use ndiswrapper to install the windows drivers, however I have run into an error. Distribution: Ubuntu Kernel: 2.6.15-23-386 lspci: 0000:0b:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation: Unknown device 4328 (rev 01) lspci -n: 0000:0b:00.0 0280: 14e4:4328 (rev 01) Installing the driver seemed to go fine and when I list the installed drivers every looks fine. Both with 1.21 and with the latest svn I am getting the following error when I try to modprobe ndiswrapper: [4295172.704000] ndiswrapper version 1.21 loaded (preempt=yes, smp=no) [4295172.787000] ndiswrapper (import:241): unknown symbol: ntoskrnl.exe:'IoGetDeviceObjectPointer' [4295172.787000] ndiswrapper (load_sys_files:215): couldn't prepare driver 'bcmwl5' [4295172.788000] ndiswrapper (load_wrap_driver:113): loadndiswrapper failed (65280); check system log for messages from 'loadndisdriver' I would be more than happy to try and help in any way possible. --Will |

If you really expect help, you'll have to do better than: 'I have run into an error.' Posting obvious stuff like which distro you have, what your kernel-version is, what version of ndiswrapper is being used, and most importantly, the exact text of the 'error' that you're seeing. [Meanwhile, I'll shoot in the dark a bit. Probably the most common error is NOT understanding to 'blacklist' the NATIVE driver that may be conflicting with your use of ndiswrapper. Look in '/var/log/messages' for evidence of that. Also, see if http://www.mepislovers.com/forums/index.php?topic=307.msg9723#msg9723 is of any help. Have you googled at all with your symptoms, before posting here?] Hope I'm good at guessing...
