Hi, Since WEP encryption was added, i just had to do some testing...
But, it seems like i can't set the essid.
Here is my if information.
eth1 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:""
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.462GHz Bit Rate=54Mb/s
RTS thr=2347 B Fragment thr=2346 B
Encryption key:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Encryption mode:restricted
Link Quality:0 Signal level:246 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
Everything looks right, but i can't check if the access point is
discovered correctly because iwlist eth1 ap dosn't work.
But since essid works for you it might be something special with my
02:03.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation: Unknown device 4324
Subsystem: Dell Computer Corporation: Unknown device 0001
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 32, IRQ 11
Memory at faff6000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]
Capabilities: Power Management version 2
It's a dualband solution, B and G in the same card (DellTrue mobile
1400). It's using the standard bcmwl5.xxx drivers, I'm using a version
that worked with driverloader from linuxant (i don't want to change
since it *did* work =))
Anyways, mail me if you want more information.
Did you try setting the essid after setting the key? The following
sequence is what should be done:
iwconfig $DEVICE mode Managed
iwconfig $DEVICE key KEY
iwconffig $DEVICE essid Essid
If it still doesn't work, look in the system logs and see if set_essid

It's set by my Mandrake ifcfg-eth1 config, which by the way worked with

iwconfig $device key restricted long_key is what i use btw.
Nope, dosn't work.

It dosn't, i had to uncomment the ndis query...
