I've got exactly the same problem - and I can't easily upgrade my kernel
as SuSE doesn't offer a newer one (their 2.4.21 is heavily patched and I
need it's functionality like ACPI; btw. it also has the security holes shut)
So far I could only help myself by using the ndiswrapper 0.3 release...
I'd really like to see this issue removed - at least until the major
distributions (ans SuSE is one) ship a newer kernel.
PS: I know that SuSE 9.0 has a "preview" of 2.6.0 - but I'm not
experienced enough with the system internals to be able to try it. And
my system works fine as it is
