I'm trying to get my Linksys WMP54G card working on Mandrak 9.2. I
downloaded the drivers but when i do 'make' i get:
make -C /lib/modules/2.4.22-10mdk/build
make *** /lib/modules/2.4.22-10mdk/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
the directory does not exist and my question is: is there a way for me to
get it there without going through a whole recompile of there kernel? What
is it looking for in this directory?
Also, the harddrake seems to see the card but does not have a module for
You can probably get away with installing just the kernel sources. I
am not familiar with Mandrake, but I guess there should be a source
RPM for the kernel you are running - make sure you install the source
RPM for exactly the same kernel you are running.

this makes sense. i couldn't find an rpm with the kernel sources for my
version but i found the tar-ball here:
now my question is, if i untar this in my home directory
(/home/kevin/linux-2.4.22), where do point this :
KDIR := /lib/modules/$(shell uname -r)/build
i've tried a few like
KDIR := /home/kevin/linux-2.4.22/kernel
KDIR := /home/kevin/linux-2.4.22/lib
anyone know which dir it is?

The default Mandrake-kernel differs from the standard-kernel, so this is
probably not the best way. Mandrake has a kernel-source-<version>.rpm,
that should be the one you need to install.
And back to your first problem, make sure you use make -f Makefile.24 for
a 2.4-kernel ...
