Hello, Thank you for writing a driver for my wireless card under linux! (Or for porting the window driver rather)! Opensource kicks arse! Thank you for your time! My question is as follows: I am using an old machine and trying to get a PCMCIA wireless card to work under Fedora Core. With ACPI on I get an error message from the kernel that my bios age fails the year 2000 test andd Ndiswrapper locks up my machine when I try to set a key to connect to my access point. Naturally I assumed that perhaps ACPI is causing a problem, as that was the solution I foundd to get my RT2500 wireless card to work in my new laptop. Now when I disable ACPI my machine cant even see the NIC even though lsmod lists ndiswrapper. What is up? How can I use my wireless card without locking up my machine? Resources follow my signature. Thank you for your help! -thewade Machine: Dell Inspiron 8000 Pentium 3 700Mhz 1GB ram FC_4 with kernel-module-ndiswrapper-2.6.15-1.1831_FC4-1.8-0.lvn.2.4 from rpm.livna.org Linksys WPC54G ver.2 PCMCIA card Driver: ndiswrapper -l Installed ndis drivers: lstinds driver present the script I run (as root): #!/bin/bash IF="wlan0" `ifconfig ${IF} up` `iwconfig ${IF} essid 'aproximation'` `iwconfig ${IF} nickname 'transport'` `iwconfig ${IF} key XXXXXXXXXX` `dhclient ${IF} ` modprobe.conf: alias eth0 e100 alias wlan0 ndiswrapper if_name=wlan0 alias snd-card-0 snd-maestro3 options snd-card-0 index=0 install snd-maestro3 /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install snd-maestro3 && /usr/sbin/alsactl restore >/dev/null 2>&1 || : remove snd-maestro3 { /usr/sbin/alsactl store >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-maestro3 alias usb-controller uhci-hcd alias ieee1394-controller ohci1394 ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program. |
