Greetings all, The card im trying to use is a Netgear WG311v3. I am using the latest "Marvell Semiconductor Libertas 802.11b/g" WinXP drivers which AFAIK are the best drivers for the card. The kernel is 2.6.12, and ndiswrapper is latest CVS. First problem... After a reboot, if i just run "modprobe ndiswrapper", modprobe doesnt return to the command line, and it cannot be killed. I have to reboot to have another chance of getting it working. If i rebuild and reinstall ndiswrapper after reboot, "modprobe ndiswrapper" works perfectly. Second problem... I init the card with: iwconfig wlan0 mode ad-hoc channel 5 iwconfig wlan0 key restricted s:xxxxx sleep 1s iwconfig wlan0 essid HomeLan After doing so i get LOTS of "setting essid failed" messages in the syslog. I thought a delay after setting the key should fix this? On running "iwlist wlan0 scan" i get: wlan0 Scan completed : Cell 01 - Address: 86:75:EB:48:0C:89 ESSID:"HomeLan" Protocol:IEEE 802.11b Mode:Ad-Hoc Frequency:2.432 GHz (Channel 5) Quality:0/100 Signal level:-91 dBm Noise level:-256 dBm Encryption key:off Bit Rate:1 Mb/s Bit Rate:2 Mb/s Bit Rate:5.5 Mb/s Bit Rate:11 Mb/s Extra:bcn_int=100 Extra:atim=0 As you can see, "Encryption key" is off and 54Mbit is not availiable (because its 802.11b?). How can i turn required encryption on, and enable 54Mbit? Thanks a lot for any help! Mark W. |

So this falls into the "too hard" category? > Greetings all, > > The card im trying to use is a Netgear WG311v3. > I am using the latest "Marvell Semiconductor Libertas 802.11b/g" WinXP > drivers which AFAIK are the best drivers for the card. > The kernel is 2.6.12, and ndiswrapper is latest CVS. > > First problem... > > After a reboot, if i just run "modprobe ndiswrapper", modprobe doesnt return to > the command line, and it cannot be killed. > I have to reboot to have another chance of getting it working. > If i rebuild and reinstall ndiswrapper after reboot, "modprobe ndiswrapper" > works perfectly. > > Second problem... > > I init the card with: > iwconfig wlan0 mode ad-hoc channel 5 > iwconfig wlan0 key restricted s:xxxxx > sleep 1s > iwconfig wlan0 essid HomeLan > > After doing so i get LOTS of "setting essid failed" messages in the syslog. > I thought a delay after setting the key should fix this? > > On running "iwlist wlan0 scan" i get: > > wlan0 Scan completed : > Cell 01 - Address: 86:75:EB:48:0C:89 > ESSID:"HomeLan" > Protocol:IEEE 802.11b > Mode:Ad-Hoc > Frequency:2.432 GHz (Channel 5) > Quality:0/100 Signal level:-91 dBm Noise level:-256 dBm > Encryption key:off > Bit Rate:1 Mb/s > Bit Rate:2 Mb/s > Bit Rate:5.5 Mb/s > Bit Rate:11 Mb/s > Extra:bcn_int=100 > Extra:atim=0 > > As you can see, "Encryption key" is off and 54Mbit is not availiable (because its 802.11b?). > How can i turn required encryption on, and enable 54Mbit? > > Thanks a lot for any help! > Mark W. > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > SF.Net email is Sponsored by the Better Software Conference & EXPO > September 19-22, 2005 * San Francisco, CA * Development Lifecycle Practices > Agile & Plan-Driven Development * Managing Projects & Teams * Testing & QA > Security * Process Improvement & Measurement * http://www.sqe.com/bsce5sf > _______________________________________________ > Ndiswrapper-general mailing list > Ndi...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/ndiswrapper-general |
