I use the last ndiswrapper-1.2 with my USB dongle Netgear WG111v2. All my=
network is in Ad-hoc mode with 128-bits WEP encryption.
My other wifi cards are based on RT2500 (and work fine).
In fact, in my local network (IP 192.168.1.x), for HTTP, FTP or SSH,
ndiswrapper-1.2 with WG111v2 works fine. I made some performance tests : =
very slower than with Windows but it works (in fact, in 802.11g 54M and a
excellent quality connection, max rate on windows seems to be 1,5 Mbytes/=
and on Linux, it's 550 kbytes/sec).
But, for HTTP on internet (not 192.168.1.x), I have a very strange behavi=
an URL works but not another one. Or, on a site, a link works but the sec=
gives a timeout. However, I test my USB dongle and the same ndiswrapper v=
in MANAGED mode and it works very well. So, I think it's really specific =
Ad-Hoc mode !
Secondly, my main problem is that it's impossible to use NFS or X11 in Ad=
mode (not tested in Managed mode) !! Each time, I get a timeout or a free=
my application. On the server (with RT2500 card), I launched Ethereal and=
see X11 request and X11 replies but I don't know if my other PC (with WG1=
receives these data. But nothing happens (no window appear for X11 or I c=
access to files for NFS).
This problem isn't due to the low rate because I can encapsulate X11 over=
connection and it works fine.
Does anybody have the same problem ?
Could be a problem at low layer ? (for example, a bad checksum computatio=
n on a
network header ?)
I think my problem is really strange...
Thank you for your help !
