HI all, I'll try again, since I had no answer to the previous post... :(
I have a Presario R3120ca and it includes a Broadcom 54G wireless
network card. I have installed various bcmwl5 NDIS drivers with varying
results. the bes I have is still that the driver loaded, the
'ndiswrapper -l' command says that it is 'preset, fuzzy' whatever that is
The grep of messages for wlan0 gives
'May 31 21:14:49 linux kernel: wlan0: ndiswrapper ethernet device
00:90:4b:52:c6:06 using driver bcmwl5.sys
May 31 21:15:06 linux kernel: wlan0: no IPv6 routers present'
iwconfig gives the following
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"" Nickname:"linux"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.462GHz Access Point:
Bit Rate=54Mb/s Tx-Power:16 dBm
RTS thr=2347 B Fragment thr=2346 B
Encryption key:AE17-800A-0E Security mode:restricted
Link Quality:100/100 Signal level:-10 dBm Noise level:-256
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
sit0 no wireless extensions.'
Which seems to indicate that it is loaded and working but cannot contact
a base station... That power management :off' worries me. There is a
button on the front of the laptop to activate the card which I have not
been able to get to work under Linux which does work under XP... I would
like to know how to set the card to activate.
Thanks for any suggestions.
