Hi, I am new to this list, so let me introduce myself: I am Romano Giannetti, I am Italian, I live in Spain and I am a teacher in an University of Madrid. And I swear I read the FAQ and tips ;-). I think I have a problem with the ndiswrapper 0.8rc-2. I have a new cardbus no-name card based on rtl8180. I use the last XP driver (1.69), I was not able to find an older one to test... I compiled it with DEBUG=1 and with the change (inferred from the list messages, because I had a reset every few seconds): --- /home/romano/lib/Jed_Backups/wrapper.c 2004-06-03 12:25:12.000000000 +0200 +++ wrapper.c 2004-06-03 13:39:52.000000000 +0200 @@ -285,8 +285,10 @@ { int res; handle->reset_status = 0; - printk(KERN_INFO "ndiswrapper: Hangcheck returned true. Resetting!\n"); - res = doreset(handle); + // printk(KERN_INFO "ndiswrapper: Hangcheck returned true. Resetting!\n"); + printk(KERN_INFO "ndiswrapper: Hangcheck returned true. NO Resetting! (Hack)\n"); + // res = doreset(handle); + DBGTRACE("%s : %08X, %d\n", __FUNCTION__, res, handle->reset_status); } } The problem: the drive seems to load OK (although I have a strange WARN on a interrupt 10-nobody care), but I seem not to be able to change anything in the configuration. I have no signal available at the moment (local problem), but I understood that you should be able to do this: [root@rukbat ndiswrapper-0.8-rc2]# iwconfig lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. eth1 no wireless extensions. wlan0 IEEE 802.11b ESSID:"" Mode:Auto Frequency:2.412GHz Access Point: FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF Bit Rate:11Mb/s Tx-Power:20 dBm Sensitivity=0/3 RTS thr:2432 B Fragment thr:2432 B Encryption key:off Power Management:off Link Quality:100/100 Signal level:-95 dBm Noise level:-256 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 [root@rukbat ndiswrapper-0.8-rc2]# iwconfig wlan0 mode managed [root@rukbat ndiswrapper-0.8-rc2]# iwconfig wlan0 wlan0 IEEE 802.11b ESSID:"" Mode:Auto Frequency:2.412GHz Access Point: FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF Bit Rate:11Mb/s Tx-Power:20 dBm Sensitivity=0/3 RTS thr:2432 B Fragment thr:2432 B Encryption key:off Power Management:off Link Quality:100/100 Signal level:-95 dBm Noise level:-256 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 [root@rukbat ndiswrapper-0.8-rc2]# iwconfig wlan0 essid ALUMNOS [root@rukbat ndiswrapper-0.8-rc2]# iwconfig wlan0 wlan0 IEEE 802.11b ESSID:"" Mode:Auto Frequency:2.412GHz Access Point: FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF Bit Rate:11Mb/s Tx-Power:20 dBm Sensitivity=0/3 RTS thr:2432 B Fragment thr:2432 B Encryption key:off Power Management:off Link Quality:100/100 Signal level:-95 dBm Noise level:-256 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 As you can see, nothing change. I read the FAQ and tried with WEP too, but to no avail. I have put the dmesg output at http://perso.wanadoo.es/r_mano/syslog.txt , since I do not know if it is accepted in this list to attach a 20k gzipped to a message.
