After successfully using ndiswrapper 0.8 with Mandrake 9.1, kernel 2.4.21 for about a year, I decided to update to Mandrake 10.2, kernel 2.6.11. I tried the ndiswrapper rpm, 1.0 I think, that came with 10.2 with no success. I then compliled ndiswrapper-1.1 and had the same problems. In both cases, the ndiswrapper -l correctly identifies the driver (which worked with the old setup) and the device being present. The following shows up in /var/log/syslog following modprobe ndiswrapper. May 29 17:37:09 laptop kernel: ndiswrapper version 1.1 loaded (preempt=no,smp=no) May 29 17:37:09 laptop kernel: ndiswrapper: driver lsbcmnds (The Linksys Group, Inc.,07/17/2003, 3.30.15.0) loaded May 29 17:37:09 laptop kernel: PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin A of device 0000:02:00.0. Please try using pci=biosirq. May 29 17:37:09 laptop kernel: ndiswrapper: request for irq 0 failed May 29 17:37:09 laptop kernel: ndiswrapper (ndiswrapper_add_one_pci_dev:188): Windows driver couldn't initialize the device (C000009A) May 29 17:37:09 laptop kernel: ndiswrapper: probe of 0000:02:00.0 failed with error -22 I tried pci=biosirq and the only change was eliminating the 'Please try using pci=biosirq.' statement. I tried using noapic and acpi=noirq also with no effect. Using Knoppix 3.8.1, again kernel 2.6.11, allows me to configure the ndiswrapper in the distro and successfully use my wireless card. This is true with the Mandrake 10.2 install as well as the old Mandrake 9.1 install. Does anyone have any ideas what to try before I abandon 10.2 for some other distribution? My card is a Linksys WPC54G version 1 and the notebook is a Compaq Presario 1201Z. Thanks, Richard |
