Hello all, I recently got stuck with two Linksys WMP11's for an ad-hoc link before I knew there were three different versions of WMP11. (Doh.) I have two v4s and I have them working with ndiswrapper (driver lsipnds). I have no problems connecting them -- the problem is with dropped packets. Even with the two computers sitting right next to each other, the connection drops a whole lot of packets under stress -- a few seconds of ping -f will drop about 40% of packets! It doesn't drop any packets if the link usage is low (an ssh session, for instance) but it shows up when transferring a large file, for instance. The existing ad-hoc link, for what it's worth, is between two Orinoco PCMCIA cards and it doesn't drop any packets. (Native orinoco_cs driver) I haven't tested these cards with Windows, so I don't have the problem narrowed down to ndiswrapper. It might be a hardware issue or the driver itself. Has anyone got any experience with this problem on this or other cards using ndiswrapper, or any insight on bad hardware with a WMP11? -- neil klopfenstein |
