    Hi,

    I have an an Acer laptop with wifi card: Ethernet controller: Linksys, A Division of Cisco Systems [AirConn] INPROCOMM IPN 2220 Wireless LAN Adapter (rev 01)
    I'm trying to connect to a Belkin Modem/Router/Access Point combo box with SSID set to "lilas".

    I have succesfully connected to it with windoze, so I can vouch for the hardware and the fact that the access point is in range.

    I've tried using iwconfig on its own, and I've tried using wpa_supplicant.
    Either way, when I scan for access points, it doesn't find anything (or times out).
    I hqve been trying for days now to get this link up and I think I might be about to lose my marbles.
    Can anyone out there make sense of this?

    The access point is set to broadcast it's ESSID, with WPA-PSK with TKIP, On Channel 1, with no MAC or IP filtering.

    I have ndiswrapper installed and running with a windows driver:

    ndiswrapper -l
    Installed ndis drivers:
    neti2220 driver present, hardware present

    Output from ifconfig:

    wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0E:9B:9F:52:6A

    Output from iwconfig:

    in /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf:

    ssid="lilas"

    }

    • I have same problem with my Acer Aspire 1410, same (Linksys) driver, ipn2220.sys windows driver from Acer site

      Ndiswrapper loads, detect hardware, but iwlist,kwifimanager, wavemon, and so fails. Cannot detect any wireless network
      Activity led continuously flashes

      Fedora Core 4 tested with native kernel and with suspend patch. Using ndiswrapper 1.2 from sourceforge.

      With FC3 + last native FC3 kernel + ndiswrapper 1.1 things worked fine

      i have a similar problem here: i was using ndiswrapper with the bcmwl5 driver for a whole year and everything worked fine. now i upgraded from debian testing to kubuntu and now, using exactely the same driver, i get no scan results.
      when i installed my wlan stuff a year ago, i had the same problem and solved it by trying multiple windows drivers. that's why i backed the one that worked up. confusingly, this one doesn't work anymore and i have no idea why.

      the only advice i can give you is to try every driver that is written for your chipset, if you are lucky you'll find one that works.

    • Broadcom driver should work; try reinstalling latest Windows driver for Dell Truemobile 1300 in wiki List.
      I don't have Inprocomm driver, so I don't know what went wrong after 1.1. Unless someone with the hardware can figure out and send patches or at least identify what causes problem (one way to do this is to try various CVS versions) and let us know, this can't be fixed.

      Same problme here:

      Acer Aspire 502MLMi with broadcom 4318.. tried various drivers.

      Card is detected but no essid can be set, wpa_supplicant dont find any access points and iwlist too.

      Latest cvs code is used.

      @ogott: which version you can report as working?

      I got it working!

      Its the faq say: the radio isnt turned on. On my Acer Aspire 5021WLMi (5020 series) I could enable it with the Acer Hotkey driver for Linux (http://www.informatik.hu-berlin.de/~tauber/acerhk/). Works fine with 2.6.13-rc3.

      After loading the module I enable the radio:
      echo on > /proc/driver/acerhk/wirelessled

      Now iwlist shows me the networks and the card works as expected.
