No

A lot of times I get people that call me with a caller id of WIRELESS CALLER which is basically useless for identification and also quite common. What I propose is that we be given the ability to override that caller id with our own via the actual number. For example, instead of seeing WIRELESS CALLER in the caller id window, I would see STEVE SMITH. This way identification of the caller would be much quicker instead of having to look it up. Thanks a lot. The program is tops!

This request is handled by adding a alias in /etc/ncid/ncidd.alias, for example:
alias NAME * = "STEVE SMITH" if 2015551212

The "*" says that anything in the name field can be changed. If the name is "WIRELESS CALLER" and the number is 2015551212, the name will be changed to STEVE SMITH.

Sorry I overlooked that already existing feature. That will definitely make identifying the caller much easier for subsequent calls. Thanks for your quick response.

To the original poster: Were you able to set up the ncidd.alias file as John indicates (I use it ALL the time myself and update if frequently) or do you need further assistance?

Yes I have set up my aliases and it works great. As a matter of fact, the ncid config files are writable by the group user and linked to /etc/ncid for ease in updating aliases, whitelists, blacklists, and the main config. A person has to get smart eventually. Thanks for asking.
