Hi!

I was looking for a convenient way to watch my mythtv recordings while doing other stuff under linux. While copying the download url from mythweb and feeding it to vlc is possible, it is a little inconvenient, so I looked if I could compile mythtvplayer.

It turns out that it's quite easy to get it to compile, however the resulting binary crashed in pthread_join. After a bit of examination I managed to make those crashes go away, and actually managed to start a recording, however all controls (stop, seek, etc.) cause mythtvplayer to hang, so there is still lots of work to be done.

I don't have time to do any further work on this, so I just pass it on to the community, maybe someone is interested to continue this attempt.

I'll settle for a little script that starts vlc (I guess I'll look at nuvexport for a way to get the recordings from the database).

Attachments: Makefiles for libspark and mythtvplayer and diff against svn trunk from yesterday (2007-04-15).

Kind regards and happy hacking! :-)

The makefile labelled "Makefile for linux" is for libspark.

The other one is for mythtvplayer. It assumes that ffmpeg was configured with --enable-shared and that a static library for tinyxml was built in $HOME/tmp/tinyxml, but that part is easily configurable.
