    *For Linux versions of mysql-navigator*
delete or MOVE the following files:
Puzzled this out since mysql-navigator depends on old client files which do not connect to new servers.
Keep in mind this is a *hack* and as such may not work for your system.

    # mv /usr/lib/libmysqlclient.so.10 ~/mysqloldlib/
    # mv /usr/lib/libmysqlclient.so.10.0.0 ~/mysqloldlib/
    # mv /usr/lib/libmysqlclient_r.so.10 ~/mysqloldlib/
    # mv /usr/lib/libmysqlclient_r.so.10.0.0 ~/mysqloldlib/

then SYMLINK the newer client libs to where those files were:
    >
    # cd /usr/lib
    # libmysqlclient.so.14.0.0 libmysqlclient.so.10
    # libmysqlclient.so.14.0.0 libmysqlclient.so.10.0.0
    # libmysqlclient_r.so.14.0.0 libmysqlclient_r.so.10
    # libmysqlclient_r.so.14.0.0 libmysqlclient_r.so.10.0.0
