I downloaded MySQL-python-1.2.3.win32-py2.7.msi from Sourceforge yesterday but
AVG Free 2012 reported that it contained a "Potentially harmful program"
Exploit.EBK. Does anyone know whether this is a real problem or a false
positive?
Thanks.
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
Almost certainly a false positive. I've re-checked the file with Microsoft
Security Essentials and Webroot SecureAnywhere, and it comes up clean on both.
AVG's site does say very muchabout what Exploit.EBK actually is. My guess it
is complaining about it being an unsigned MSI.
If you'd rather build it yourself... Install Visual Studio 2008 (required by
python.org Python builds, 2010 and later will not work for this purpose) and
MySQL Connector/C (from mysql.com), and the current SVN code in branch
MySQLdb-1.2, and run setup.py bdist_msi

That should read, AVG's site des not say much about what Exploit.EBK
actually is.
Thanks for the quick reply, I couldn't find any info about it when I looked
either. I'll try the build as you suggest.
Good suggestion !
