I run a small squid proxy (300 users, max 1800 requests per minute
during the work day). We were using Sarg for recordkeeping, but it was
slow, a daily report taking anywhere from 6 to 9 hours to complete. I
started using MySAR on January 1st, with the record retention set to 365
days (so I haven't purged any data yet).
Currently the mysar database is about 5GB in size, with the traffic
table about 3.8GB.
After the first week I had to modify the mysar-maintenance script's
timout parameter from 55 seconds to 7200 seconds to allow it to complete
work on the traffic table. I originally tried 600 seconds, which was
not enough so just set it very high for the next day.
What problems could I run into by having the maintenance script run for
that amount of time? Will it interfere with the import script?
