I want to install a MediaMVP + mvpmc in my 3 year old daughter's room so she can have access to all the kiddie shows that we have amassed on our two Replays and DVArchive. Well, of course there are adults in the house that occasionally like to watch things which are beyond a "G" rating. What would be great is if there were a command line switch that could be placed in the .config file that would only display shows in certain categories. Something like:
mvpmc --replayfilter kids
This would only display shows that are in the "kids" category when viewing a networked Replay or DVA guide.
I implemented this for mythtv recently. I works by allowing you to turn categories on and off in the settings menu. Then you can use the --no-settings command line flag to make sure that your kids can't re-enable the categories you don't want them watching.
I would think someone could implement something similar for replaytv.
Hey, Sorry for taking a while to get back.
I agree this would be a useful feature.
Currently the mvp RTV code doesn't parse the channel
info that contains the categories.
It's on my list but with limited time I don't know when I'll get to it.
Once the channel info is parsed it wouldn't be difficult to add a config option like you mention.
