Hi everyone!

On my desktop, I have the icons zommed in a bit. The icon for Mumble that is used now has a low resolution and doesn't look very well when zoomed in.
So, I added 256x256 and a couple of other resolutions to the file icons_mumble.ico which is located here: http://mumble.git.sourceforge.net/git/gitweb.cgi?p=mumble/mumble;a=tree;f=icons;hb=HEAD
I think this have been a thing that many users have been waiting for. :)

This could maybe be in the .exe file instead?

That ico file has duplicate resolutions; 32x32 is in there even three times.

Not sure what the reason for it not being accepted/commented yet is though.
Maybe nobody really uses it in such a high resolution!? (nobody = very few)

Actually, src/tests/IconSync.cpp is used to create the icon file.
    I prepared a commit to add a 256px layer.
I’m waiting on some internal feedback and will then push it to the after-1.2.4 branch.

Although this will probably be used very rarely,
this ticket shows that it may/will be used.
Apart from a slight file-size increase, it shouldn’t have any disadvantages.

Trying it out (via gimp), file-size increases from 137 kB to 400 kB, which is quite a bit.
Compressing the png layers it results in 67,5 kB.
Compressing the original results in 33,1 kB.

Question is: Do accept such a substantial increase in file-size for very rare usage?

Let me ask you though - how do you zoom in?
In Win7, when I zoom in in windows explorer, it does not seem to use the 128px icon even though it could/should on bigger sizes.

Could you please give some input on my previous usage questions?
    That’d be very helpful!

The commit I mentioned has been committed as 6860c0b4c43a93dd7a0c4c82fcad963d672ba942
    to the after-1.2.4 branch.

    MSDN doc says:

    Vista:
    maximum of 256x256
Application icons scale up to 256x256
Optionally 40x40 for Quick Launch area (alt+tab) for non-scaled version
Icon (.ico format) files must contain the 4- and 8-bit versions, as well as the 24-bit + alpha.

For Windows 8 there only seems to be tile guidelines; not helpful to us atm.

I'd suggest using a more simplified icon for at least 16x16 and 24x24, I guess also 32x32 as that's blurred as well.
