Hi,

I'm running mumble 1.2.3_rc1 with qt 4.6.3 on gentoo (i686).
When running the audio tuning wizard, on the device selection window, mumble segfault when clicking the next button.
Seems related to qt, do I need to upgrade it ?
Attached file is the backtrace, let me know if you need something more. Thanks.

    I rebuilt qt with debug symbols, and got a new backtrace.
    Interesting new part :

    Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
    0xb6bdb8ae in QFile::size (this=0x8d85dfc) at io/qfile.cpp:1426
    1426 io/qfile.cpp: No such file or directory.
    in io/qfile.cpp
    (gdb) bt

    0 0xb6bdb8ae in QFile::size (this=0x8d85dfc) at io/qfile.cpp:1426

    Seems like a file is missing somewhere.

    Try rebuilding Qt and Mumble, it's possible that you have a library mismatch.

    Already done, same result. In fact, each time mumble wants to play a notification sample, it crash.
    I get exactly the same crash when I click on the preview button near the PTT Audio cue checkbox in the advanced audio input configuration window.

    I forgot to ask in my previous comment : if I understand correctly, the sounds samples for notifications are embedded in the mumble binary ? No need to install them ?

  • Try to rebuild libsndfile and yes, the sound files are in the mumble binary. (I've seen this problem before but I don't remember what solved it)

    Sorry for the delay. I already tried to rebuild libsndfile, and some others packages, always the same result, same crash.
    I think it's a bug in Qt. For now I will wait for upgrades to see if the problem disappears by itself. For reference, here is a topic on gentoo forums where someone got the same crash 6 months ago.

    Some news : mumble does not crash anymore when playing embedded sounds.

    I'm not sure what was the fix, but I noticed that recently a change was made in the gentoo package : mumble does not use anymore the system celt library, but it uses the bundled one instead. Do you think it can make a difference ?

    Closing, as it doesn’t seem to be an issue any more.
