I'm trying to enable the Mumble overlay when I use EVE Online but it seems I'm not be able to achieve this result.

On Mumble the overlay is enabled, I launch Mumble first and then Eve Online but no overlay on Eve screen.
I also tried with the -nod3d9ex, same result: no overlay.
I've got the very same issue on Star Wars The Old Republic.

I'm running Windows 8 Pro x64 and the latest mumble snapshot version 1.2.4-91-g15ecb7a

    What Direct3D version does Eve use with and without the -nod3d9ex option?

    • labels: --> overlay, windows
    • Version: unspecified --> 1.2.4
    • Targeted Release: Current_snapshot --> unspecified

    I can provide you a dxdiag.txt and I tried also without the -nod3d9ex option but it still doesn't work.

    Meanwhile I updated Mumble to the last available version. Still no luck.

    A dxdiag does not say anything about games/applications - only about your system+hardwares capabilities.

    I do not know where I could check for EVE information regarding their usage of Direct3D / version - I was hoping you would?

    I misread, sorry ;) EVE runs with DirectX 9.0c

    Sure, I'll do it as soon as I go back at home. Thanks :)

    Ok, I just followed a suggestion of a friend of mine who plays EVE with me. I was running Mumble enabling "Run as administrator" on the link's properties. He suggested me to remove that flag so, running Mumble normally, it shows the overlay.

    I enabled it the first time I installed Mumble so I totally forgot about it.
    I hope it can be helpful to who got overlay's issues.
    If you still need the dbgview.exe log I can create it and post it.

    Edit: it only works with the '-nod3d9ex' option

    No need for that then.
    If you run them in different system contexts - admin and non admin - that is expected behavious - that the overlay does not display.
