Tuan, You'll want to look at the http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net/howto.html for more info (scroll all the way down), but the options you are looking for are. cachesize= cache-percent= Put them in your $HOME/.mplayer/mplayerplug-in.conf file (just a text file, and create it if it is not present). There should be an example conf file in the tar file. Some media files will ignore this option (old quicktime files), but most respect these values. The plugin uses the greater of either cachesize or cache-percent before playing. Think of cachesize as more of cachemin. So if you have a cachesize=512 and cache-percent=25 and you download a 1MB file, 512K of the file will be downloaded before playing is started.
