Sorry to reply to my own message....but i am having problems with both 
yahoo and cnn clips also.  They wont play at all.  Window displayes, 
blip of sound, nothing.  Keeps trying to play over and over.

Something else i noticed, in about:plugins, it shows that i have 2 
different versions of the codecs installed.  3.31 and 3.35.  I assume 
that 3.35 is the new svn compile i did, but i don't have any idea why 
the 3.31 is showing up, perhaps a leftover from my old package?  I 
searched for the mplayerplug-in.so and it only shows up in 1 place: 
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins.
