Mplayer-plugin fails work, if mplayer is using xmga
video output driver that is provided by mga_vid.ko.
This Linux kernel module sourcecode is available at
http://attila.kinali.ch/mga/.

With this module loaded there is quick flash in upper
right corner of screen, but no video output appers in
browser window. If I unload this module, Mplayer-plugin
works again. I can use xmga driver with Mplayer when I
launch player on commandline and it works just fine.

try setting vo=x11 and see if that helps you can test it by
    running

mplayer -vo x11 somefile.mov and see if it works. Some
mplayer vo's cannot be used embedded.

Ok, how can I set -vo x11 only for Mplayerplug-in? Should
this problem be reported to Mplayer developers also, so that
this video output driver could be fixed or is the problem
    with Mplayerplug-in?

Thank you, this solves the problem. I am sorry that I did
    look for the manual.

xv and x11 are the only known vo's that can be embedded, use
of any other vo is unsupported and not recommended.
