mozilla-mplayer 3.50 under ubuntu 8.04 and firefox 3b4

When playing back the embedded videos in http://www.cbc.ca/news/

(on the upper right), after hitting the "play" button a window pops up with the video. The playback is OK and finishes OK, after I close the window I start noticing "zombie" mplayer processes that show up in my system monitor. Quite a few of them.

In previous pluggin versions on firefox 2, this "un-embedding" never happened. Other streams (see below for bbc) do not "automatically un-embed".

I don't notice zombies or un-embedding when playing back Real Video media from the http://news.bbc.co.uk/ (I notice, though, that my configuration setting "black-background=1" is not completely honoured (there is a black strip below the 15:9 video.

Sorry I meant: (there is a grey (gnome dialogs' background color) strip below the 15:9 video, instead of a BLACK one as one would expect)

The zombies are probably caused by the windows codecs (although not positive). Can you try gecko-mediaplayer + gnome-mplayer and see if they give you better results. I think they will.

the black-background was an option that didn't always work 100% of the time, so not surprised that you are seeing issues with it. gnome-mplayer works correctly.

Thanks for following up. With gecko-mediaplayer, zombies don't show up anymore. I guess this bug can be closed.
