It would be awesome if these builds also came with a (nullsoft .exe or .msi) style installer, so that simpler users like myself would be able to install them with ease.

It's just an exe with some conf files, you can unpack everywhere, an installer would make exactly same thing
The benefits would be
1) other programs could query the registry to know where it was installed to (easier 3rd party use--that's what I would like it for), and
2) users would get to agree to the GPL for it (its own license).
After unpacking in any folder, just add this folder to the path of Windows that is easy to call it without typing the entire path.
"just add this folder to the path of Windows" (unfortunately for lay users I'd want them to install the thing so my program could call it, so this wouldn't be trivial. I could have them navigate to it to show me where they unpacked it, I suppose, or just download the zip myself locally and then know where I unpacked it to--I've chosen the latter route).
