When using MPlayer version superior to svn-32735 to convert videos to MPEG-2, the converted video is having trouble with the sound. Use the mpeg2video codec and ac3.

example of command-line conversion:

mencoder sample.avi -priority idle -oac lavc -ovc lavc -of mpeg -mpegopts format=dvd:tsaf -af volnorm,lavcresample=48000,channels=2 -srate 48000 -vf scale=352:480,harddup,pp=de,hqdn3d=de -ofps 30000/1001 -lavcopts acodec=ac3:abitrate=256:vcodec=mpeg2video:vrc_buf_size=1835:vbitrate=1731:vrc_maxrate=9537:aspect=4/3:vstrict=0:keyint=18:cgop:sc_threshold=1000000000:trell:mbd=2:cbp:mv0:dc=10:last_pred=2:vb_strategy=1:dia=2:predia=2:preme=2:precmp=0:subcmp=2:cmp=2:ildct:ilme:top=1 -o sample.mpg

Discussion

  • Ticket moved from /p/mplayer-win32/feature-requests/63/

  • linux version of mencoder has same problem even with sample command line in the docs, I guess no one uses mencoder to make dvd
