I have run MP3val on 3 versions of a same MP3 file:
1) CBR, 2) VBR w/o Xing header and 3) VBR with Xing header.
In the 2nd one it issues errors but it didn't fix anything using the "-f" switch.
That's... not a bug. The documentation (http://mp3val.sourceforge.net/docs/manual.html) clearly states:
"VBR detected, but no VBR header is present. Seeking may not work properly" -
Files encoded with VBR should have a VBR header (either Xing or VBRI), otherwise seeking can be broken. **This will be fixable in the future versions.**
Yes, it's not a bug but a missing feature :-(
Is there currently any command-line windows program that can analyze a VBR file without a XING vbr header and add the correct xing vbr header (like if this program actually fixed mp3s...)? Please post any recommendations as this is exactly what I need.
