    Hello Doug,

With your kind help, and the thread "Configure moviemasher on linux". I successfully configured moviemasher on my debian server. It is complete local setup. Thank you very much for your help.

Now I am trying to add Session authentication, for that I edited authutils.php. I am facing a problem here. After It logs in to the system perfectly, when I try to upload an image, video or audio, I noticed that flash request is creating another session instance on the server which is blank. although the first session instance created by the php on the time of authentication is also there. so during upload when flash calls authutils.php for getting username, it gets blank and throughs error "error CoderDoneURL". My question is, does flash creates its own sessions? and how to control this?

    thanks
    Zeeshan

Hi Zeeshan. Glad you were able to get things up and running. If using PHP sessions, make sure that the session.use_only_cookies PHP configuration is disabled, since you'll probably be passing the session name and id in the callback URLs. Flash requests don't create their own sessions, but callback URLs will if the first session can't be reestablished.

    hello doug,

Happy new year… I edited media.xml and wrote only one video tag in that, because I want to open only one video for editing at a time. Now when I drag the video to timeline for editing, I can see the video in timeline. I can move timeline to see different frames. I can split and edit, almost everything is fine. But, when I hit play button on the top left player to play the video, I get this error in the background

    ERROR:  ArgumentError: Error #2068

and I cannot hear sound of the video, and the loading wheel keeps on rotating on the video. I am not sure what this error is. I tried to check the log, but in the log there is nothing for this error.. log is blank..

    Please help

Googling reveals this flash generated error concerns invalid audio. What kind of file are you trying to load? Does it play in flash outside of Movie Masher?

    Hello,

Everything is good now.. The audio issue is solved.
Now final step is to change the render button functionality from PHP side. When the user clicks render, after the render is complete I need to add msg in log/database. I need to know that which file on php side is finalizing the rendering step.

In the example deployment, I believe that would be the encoding.php script. It sends the trigger to refresh the media browser on the correct tab.

FFmpeg can only handle the codecs that have been compiled into it. From the command line 'ffmpeg -codecs' will display a list of supported codecs for encoding and decoding. If yours is not on the list then it will have to be installed on the box and ffmpeg will need to be recompiled to use it. To test a file without involving Movie Masher, just execute 'ffmpeg -i path/to/file.mov' to see what information FFmpeg is able to draw from it.

We use a special "debian multimedia" version of ffmpeg on that server. There are multiple MPEG related codecs available in the installed version of ffmpeg, notably 'mpeg2video' which supports MPEG-2 video.
Still when we upload AVI file, it says "couldnot cache image sequence".

    When I checked AVI file with the command "ffmpeg -i girl_02.avi". I got this;

    Input #0, avi, from 'girl_02.avi':
    Duration: 00:00:14.06, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 415 kb/s
    Stream #0:0: Video: indeo5 (IV50 / 0x30355649), yuv410p, 256x256, 30 tbr, 30 tbn, 30 tbc

    Any idea ?

Are you able to manually create an image sequence out of the file? If the Verbose job option is enabled, the Movie Masher log on the transcoding server should contain the command that's failing (I think).

And the file seems to be using indeo5 rather than mpeg2video, no? If so, is this supported in the ffmpeg installation?

According to Log, for the following command the error is : Option video_size not found.

    ffmpeg -s 256x256 -i /moviemasher/cache/1c76505f77b7c798d3b7bc22af099aa9/media.avi -s 160x160 -b 563K -an -r 10 -vframes 143 moviemasher/cache/1c76505f77b7c798d3b7bc22af099aa9/media/160x120x10/build%d.jpg

Is that the error being returned by ffmpeg? It could well be you've got a different version that expects different parameters (they change them constantly). Best bet is to install whatever version of ffmpeg was current when the AMI was made. Otherwise, you'll have to edit private/MovieMasher/Coder.php and probably other files.

Can you tell me what version is used in MM 3.1.13 ?

I don't know off the top of my head - it's whatever was in their repository when I built from source and bundled the AMI. The source itself is in the installed/ffmpeg directory on the AMI - there might be some SVN meta data there with the version, I'm not sure.

    Hi Doug,

If it the issue of FFMPEG version, then why I am getting the same errors on EC2 server.
I cannot upload AVI to EC2 instance as well. Getting the same error:
could not cache image sequence: /PATH_TO_CACHE_FOLDER

Maybe the problem isn't the FFmpeg version, but rather what codecs are installed. Did you check to see if indeo5 was supported by either installation? No version of FFmpeg will be able to process the file if the underlying codec is not installed. If it is, then perhaps it is reporting its dimensions in a non standard way that the parsing scripts are not catching.

In message number 12 here in this forum you provide a command - could you also provide the output from trying to execute the command? I'm just not seeing where the video_size option would be needed, since we are providing the -s switch p- but like I said, you might be using a version that expects different switches. If you need to add this option to the command to get it to work, you can use the DecoderSwitches job option. But first you should be able to execute the command from the command line manually without error.

  • Hi everyone,

I'm also getting a "Could not cache image sequence: /media/ephemeral0/moviemasher/cache/bb3ecd3606d7b86c1e3191df6ecb16b5/media.mov" error message. I use the latest AMI.

When I execute ffmpeg -i <file.mov> I get the following:

What do you get when you attempt to make an image sequence out of the file?

  • What information are you referring to? The log?

  • doug

I mean the output of an ffmpeg command that converts the file into an image sequence. Ideally one very similar to the one Movie Masher is using - which you may find in the log.

  • In MovieMasher.xml I've set <Verbose>1</Verbose>, but Ive never seen a ffmpeg command.. Do I need to set anything else?

  • Ok,
I've used a command stated earlier in this thread, and the result is:

    $ ffmpeg -s 256x256 -i ./RECORTE\ DE\ PARIS.mov -s 160x160 -b 563K -an -r 10 -vframes 143 moviemasher/cache/1c76505f77b7c798d3b7bc22af099aa9/media/160x120x10/build%d.jpg
