Hi friendly list, I am trying to employ the kill -s SIGHUP feature to reread the configuration file. Motion rereads it but after a few seconds terminates. The syslog says: Dec 29 12:23:04 benz motion: [0] Processing thread 0 - config file /home/noio/.motion/motion.conf Dec 29 12:23:04 benz motion: [0] Processing config file /home/noio/.motion/kensington.conf Dec 29 12:23:04 benz motion: [0] Thread 1 is from /home/noio/.motion/kensington.conf Dec 29 12:23:04 benz motion: [1] Failed to open video device /dev/video0: Device or resource busy Dec 29 12:23:04 benz motion: [1] Capture error calling vid_start So, it doesn't like the fact that the cam is busy. Granted, motion is already up! Does this work for anybody else? Best regards, Michael |

Version of motion? Tested just with the latest SVN and it works OK. How start/restart is done is changed in the latest SVN compared to latest release. This was changed to be able to start motion even if the video device wasn't there at startup. /Dag 2007/12/29, Michael Kuss <mic...@pi...>: > > Hi friendly list, > > I am trying to employ the kill -s SIGHUP feature to reread the > configuration file. The reason why I like the SIGHUP is that I wanted to plug in a second cam during running. For all other parameters I can use the web interface. In the SVN version you can start/stop threads while running using the HTTP interface. /Dag 2007/12/29, Michael Kuss <mic...@pi...>: > > On Sat, 29 Dec 2007, Dag Erlandsson wrote: > > > Version of motion? > > sorry, forgot to give the details. Have to add if it is in the configuration. The only way to add a camera is a restart motion / all threads. This can also be done in the web interface. /Dag 2007/12/29, Dag Erlandsson <lan...@gm...>: > > In the SVN version you can start/stop threads while running using the HTTP > interface. > > /Dag > > 2007/12/29, Michael Kuss <mic...@pi... >: > > > > On Sat, 29 Dec 2007, Dag Erlandsson wrote: > > > > > Version of motion? > > > > sorry, forgot to give the details. I got a new warning telling me that low_cpu isn't anymore. I'm not sure why I added it anyway. Moreover, I found that it is superseeded by webcam_motion.
