Hi, i use for many years a motion server with one web-cam. Then i tried to put a new cam on the server. I setup the thread config as in the manual. First i using motion Version 3.2.12. Then i used the last version (trunkREV552), adapted the conf files, and the same happed. I run Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 3.2.0-24-generic-pae Here is my Logfile: ./motion -n -c /etc/motion/motion-dist.conf [0] [NTC] [ALL] conf_load: Processing thread 0 - config file /etc/motion/motion-dist.conf [0] [NTC] [ALL] config_thread: Processing config file /etc/motion/thread1.conf [0] [NTC] [ALL] config_thread: Processing config file /etc/motion/thread2.conf [0] [NTC] [ALL] motion_startup: Motion trunkREV552 Started [0] [NTC] [ALL] motion_startup: Logging to syslog [0] [NTC] [ALL] motion_startup: Using log type (ALL) log level (NTC) [0] [NTC] [ALL] main: Thread 1 is from /etc/motion/thread1.conf [0] [NTC] [ALL] main: Thread 1 is device: /dev/video0 input 8 [0] [NTC] [ALL] main: Stream port 8081 [0] [NTC] [ALL] main: Thread 2 is from /etc/motion/thread2.conf [0] [NTC] [ALL] main: Thread 2 is device: /dev/video1 input 1 [0] [NTC] [ALL] main: Stream port 8082 [0] [NTC] [ALL] main: Waiting for threads to finish, pid: 7562 [2] [NTC] [ALL] motion_init: Thread 2 started , motion detection Enabled [1] [NTC] [ALL] motion_init: Thread 1 started , motion detection Enabled [0] [NTC] [STR] httpd_run: motion-httpd testing : IPV4 addr: 0.0.0.0 port: 8080 [2] [NTC] [VID] vid_v4lx_start: Using videodevice /dev/video1 and input 1 [0] [NTC] [STR] httpd_run: motion-httpd Bound : IPV4 addr: 0.0.0.0 port: 8080 [0] [NTC] [STR] httpd_run: motion-httpd/trunkREV552 running, accepting connections [2] [NTC] [VID] v4l2_get_capability: ------------------------ cap.driver: "uvcvideo" cap.card: "UVC Camera (046d:080a)" cap.bus_info: "usb-0000:00:10.4-5.1" cap.capabilities=0x04000001 ------------------------ [0] [NTC] [STR] httpd_run: motion-httpd: waiting for data on 0.0.0.0 port TCP 8080 [2] [NTC] [VID] v4l2_get_capability: - VIDEO_CAPTURE [2] [NTC] [VID] v4l2_get_capability: - STREAMING [2] [ERR] [VID] v4l2_select_input: Unable to query input 1. Hi, so i found the error in the Config file. Now both Web-Cams are running, but only in a very low resolution. If i use heigh resolution i get the error: "Error starting stream VIDIOC_STREAMON: No space left on device". This seems to be a well known bug, so i will lock for a solution. thx |

Hi guys , there're a couple of FAQs talking about this : http://www.lavrsen.dk/foswiki/bin/view/Motion/FrequentlyAskedQuestions#How_do_I_get_Motion_to_work_with_two_or_more_camera_at_a_time_63 http://www.lavrsen.dk/foswiki/bin/view/Motion/FrequentlyAskedQuestions#Resolution_and_palette_issues_with_some_drivers_and_USB_1.x_47_2.0 A quick way to solve is to use a USB host per camera although many can disagree this and use a lower resolution and/or choose a palette with less bandwidth usage.
