Hello, I have some problems with using two ituner spectra cards. System hang after some hours to 2 days with kernel panic in different systems and with different kernels. First I used Pentium 4 - 3 GHz with VIA chipset. Then I changed board, cpu, memory to one with SIS chipset and also with intel 945G chipset. Also I have tried debian stable and testing and also ubuntu server. All with different kernel versions. And also one self build 2.6.16 kernel which I use in different systems will not run. If I take out one card all is running fine and over many weeks. Also it is same I use card A or card B. Have anyone some hint for me? I can not understand. Now I am testing with spectra card A and it is running for 7 days. In three days I will change it to card B and will look what happened. But when problems started I also tried with only one card and both were running for some days. May be I broke test to fast and so now I make back check. Also cooling is fine, I am testing with 4 extra Case coolers and all is cool. I could not understand because this first system with VIA chipset was running more than 5 month with motion 3.2.4 and debian testing, connected 12 cams with about 4 frames per second and resolutions half 320x240 and other half 640x480. Then I connected 13th cam and updated the debian system and also motion to 3.2.6. Also I changed resolutions to 720x576 pal and 640x480 with 6 frames. But this update job was also not problem because I saved motion config and also tried to use backups with same result. My only hope is that my next check with card B will crash after some days and then this card is damaged, all other thing I changed allready. But may be anyone knows my problem and has solution if card B is also okay. Many greetings and thanks for this great peace of software. octo273 --------------------------------- Yahoo! Peter, =20 I=92ve had a lot of problems with two SAA7134 cards. One input per card. Computer lockups, segmentation faults, slab cache that only increases = (might be normal), etc. I=92ve done some extensive testing, installed = additional memory and extra cooling, lowered cpu speed even though I do not = overclock my system, reinstalled the whole system with the latest FFMPEG/MOTION = etc. Nothing did help. Every time sustained motion occurred, a segmentation = fault was the result. Finally I reduced the capture resolution from 720x576 to = the default 352x288, now everything works fine again. =20 My conclusion after all the testing. High resolutions and maybe the pre-capture option seem to introduce segmentation-faults and even system lockups. CPU is fine, temperature OK, harddisk without bad sectors, = enough memory, etc. I now guess it might be the PCI-bus that=92s saturated, but = have no way to test this. =20 My sytem: A7M-266D. 2x 2,4 GHz Athlon MP, 1 GB memory, 300 Gig harddrive with 200 Gig for motion to write to, 2x SAA7134 (card=3D9) and 1x BTTV Multiple input card (card=3D71). =20 And even with all the problems, I also think motion is a great piece of software=85 =20 Milan. _____ =20 Van: mot...@li...
