I've read the wiki about interlacing, and I set framefrate to 24, yet I
still get interlacing on the motion images (not the webcam stream I
Is this a hardware problem, or something in motion?

I've uses a few of the Spectra 8 cards from iTuner. One has been running
24x7 since January 2003. No problems to report, although the price is
still a bit high. http://www.ituner.com/spectra.htm
It has 4 separate channels capable of 30fps each for a total
(theoretical) capture rate of 120fps. There is also the option of adding
a second bank of 4 additional channels (one for each input). This
requires your application to support multiple channels (motion does this
well) but there is a performance hit (not due to motion, but from
handling the bounce between primary/secondary channels).
