Hi Pascal, I spent a bit of time playing with an SPCA5xx based camera under FreeBSD. The only USB cameras supported by Motion running on FreeBSD are the Philips PWC based ones. The problem seems to be that in FreeBSD, every camera driver has its own software API - there's no consistency. As such, Motion would need a heap of extra code added for each extra model of USB camera supported. The Philips PWC series cameras are quite common. I ended up getting a second hand SPC900N from eBay quite cheaply. I was surprised at how much better the performance was than with the "no name" USB web cam I'd been playing with before. It will do proper 640x480 and has excellent low light performance. There's a list of cameras supported by the PWCBSD driver here: http://raaf.atspace.org/#faq Regards, Scott. ----- Original Message ---- From: Pascal <ml...@s-...> To: mot...@li... It's supported by the spca5xx-driver an it works well with the two tools spca5view and spca5shot. Now is it possible to use a spca5xx-driver based webcam with motion on freebsd? If yes, how to configure it? Thanks for your help. regards Pascal ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Motion-user mailing list Mot...@li... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/motion-user http://www.lavrsen.dk/twiki/bin/view/Motion/WebHome Find a better answer, faster with the new Yahoo!7 Search. www.yahoo7.com.au/search |
