Both MetaValidator and MonitorCentral received a lot of bug fixes and optimizations with this release.
Spell check diagnostics are much improved, too.
MetaValidator and MonitorCentral now have support for Tidy (thanks to help from the JTidy API hosted at sourceforge), spell checking and correction (thanks to the excellent Jazzy API, also hosted at sourceforge), and FTP capabilities (thanks to J-FTP).
The open source section 508 web page correction and validation tool "MetaValidator" has been updated in release 0.5.5 with the following features/improvements:
- Improved support for links with spaces (" ") in URLs
when openning pages in browser with IE set as default browser
- Implemented "refresh" functionality for the image
correction part of the 508 correction wizard
- Added help buttons/topics to :
1. 508 Wizard - Table and Image Correction Dialogs
2. New Domain Dialog
3. New Content Area Dialog
4. Report Dialog
- Improved error handling to 508 table fixes; previously
tables with no rows, cols, or cells could throw a java.lang.nullPointer
exception - that condition is now trapped properly
- ASP / JSP meta tag edits are currently in manual due to scripting problems
This release adds improved support to ASP, JSP, CFM. Also new is a 508 wizard for fixing accessibility problems. Improved performance with search and reporting tools was also implemented in this release.
This is a win32/Java based tool for determining accessibility of web pages/web sites. It can both spider (analyze over the net) and index (local file system) web sites for compliance with Section 508 standards. This may be the only free 508 spider out there....
