I'm using mondo-1.74_cvs_20031001-1sus82.i386.rpm because rpm cannot install mondo-1.74_cvs_20031003-1sus82.i386.rpm unlike all other rpm packages. I would like to install the latter if the rpm package gets ok. At the first try of using mondo, after some minutes of burning to DVD+RW, there is a segmentation fault. Log is attached. I use SuSE 8.2 mondo-1.74_cvs_20031001-1sus82.i386.rpm mindi-0.94_cvs_20031003-1.i386.rpm newt-0.50.34-1.i586.rpm slang-1.4.8-12.i586.rpm Walter -- http://daistwasdran.de/ |

This version also makes the segmentation fault. At the end of writing to DVD+RW, as it seems to me. Whether I activate verify or not. When I mount the written DVD, everything seems readable, but mondorestore says: ---FATALERROR--- Media size is less than zero. Whether /dev/scd1 is mounted or not. Sorry, the log file attached to the previous mail 3 minutes ago didn't include the last try. The rest of the mail is identical. This version also makes the segmentation fault. Additional informations: During "generating boot+data disks", mondoarchive says "Where is liblvm? You need it." But, according to kcontrol, SuSE package lvm with liblvm-10.so.1 is installed. The default DVD size was set to 4580 MB, but changing this to 4500 MB didn't change anything. (My test backup iso size is only 700 MB). Walter -- http://daistwasdran.de/ |

I just backed up and nuked my Win2K/Red Hat 8 PC w/ Mondo v1.7x... and I used DVD disks. I'm guessing the problem would reveal itself if I had hardware more like yours. Would you like to tell me more about your hardware? -Hugo > -----Original Message----- > From: mon...@li... > [mailto:mon...@li...]On Behalf Of Walter > Schittek > Sent: 04 October 2003 14:40 > To: mon...@li... > Subject: Re: [Mondo-devel] Segmentation fault when writing on DVD+RW > > > Sorry, the log file attached to the previous mail 3 minutes > ago didn't > include the last try. I have attached the output from hwinfo. If you don't need so much informations, here something in words: Mainboard Fujitsu-Siemens D1219 Graphics onboard: Intel i815 Sound onboard: Intel 82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio NIC onboard: Intel EtherExpress PRO/100 VM CPU Pentium III 1000 RAM 512 MB IDE-Disk 120 GB SAMSUNG SV1204H as hda IDE-Disk 30 GB QUANTUM FIREBALLlct15 30 as hdc IDE DVD+RW Burner NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A as hdd SCSI-Hostadapter Adaptec 2940 with SCSI-CD-ROM 4X SANYO CRD-254S and Scanner Mustek ScanExpress 12000SP ISDN+DSL Card AVM Fritz-DSL DVB-s Card Hauppauge Nexus-s Rev 2.1 Other NICs and harddisks, that are mentioned by hwinfo, are not in the system but were there previously or temporarily. Does the liblvm message that I mentioned in my last mail have no relevance? Is it possible the SuSE specialities cause the segfault? Hope you get a hot trace. With the unstable daily from today, the segfault is no longer there. But: I made another change this week: I activated DMA for the DVD+RW drive, which was deactivated always before. (I didn't know it until I tried to watch DVD-Video.) The problem with mondorestore stays the same: When it tries to access the DVD+RW, it says: Fatal error... Media size is less than zero. mindi: no process killed Doesn't make a difference whether I mount /dev/scd1 or not. Ejecting the freshly written DVD before using mondorestore doesn't help, either. Sounds like a bug to me. Have you tried tracking down the message to a particular subroutine? Perhaps you could comment out the if/then structure & see if mondorestore works properly then. Alternatively, you could change fatal_error() to log_it(). Come on, Walter. :) I just added support for DVDs a week ago... and only to the unstable branch of Mondo. Don't you think you should put in a bit of effort to solving the problem yourself? :) -Hugo |

Looking at your attached log I see this [Main] libmondo-devices.c->interactively_obtain_media_parameters_from_user#1630: media size = -1 which definitely looks wrong. I'm seeing thge same. I have not yet had time to try to find where Mondo is getting the media size but I'd guess that where the problem lays? I notice you are using dvd+rw rather than dvd-rw so am I. This may or may not be relevant.
